my experience with using chatgpt to enhance my resume.

i generated two versions of my resume with chatgpt: one that was more brand strategy focused and the other focused on brand design. i used similar prompts to generate these resumes that were designed similarly to the following:

edit the bullet points on this resume to reflect a greater (brand strategy/brand design) focus for a junior level position for an in-house role. the role would include responsibilities like (list of responsibilties for the role).

after generating these resume bullet points, i noticed that chatgpt attempted to make the roles i held more applicable to the ones i specified it to focus on. though, it also greatly altered my actual experience with what i specified it to focus on. if i were to blindly accept the suggestions, i would likely get an interview – though my lack of technical experience would show in an interview. however, based on the responsibilities i listed for the roles, chatgpt used lots of keywords that would be beneficial on a resume being scanned by employers or ATS systems. i think chatgpt would be excellent in the sense of drafting potential keywords and responsibilities, but it takes a person to verify whether the generated information is accurate.
